3D PDF Consortium now ANSI’s US TAG Administrator for ISO Standards for PDF technology

Replacing AIIM at the US TAG Administrator and secretary for ISO TC 171 SC 2, the 3D PDF Consortium, a PDF Association Partner Organization, recently announced that the organization has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a standards developer.

TC 171 SC 2 focusses on standardizing technologies and processes for a variety of document file formats and related technologies. A major aspect of the committee’s work involves continued development of the family of ISO standards for the PDF file format, including PDF/A (archival), PDF/E (engineering) and PDF/UA (universal accessibility).

The 3D PDF Consortium participates in standardization activities in several ways:

• Internationally, the 3D PDF Consortium will administrate the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO/TC 171/SC 2. The TAG represents the U.S. National Body (ANSI) and US-based subject-matter experts
• The 3D PDF Consortium establishes liaisons with other standards development organizations, such as the PDF Association, when mutually beneficial, common interests exist.

Responding to ANSI's approval of the 3D PDF Consortium's new status,Jerry McFeeters, Executive Director of the 3D PDF Consortium, said “The 3D PDF Consortium is committed to open standards and the return on investment they can provide. The standards developed by ISO/TC 171/SC 2 have wide-ranging implications for a vast number of businesses working in today’s global markets. It is imperative that our members and partners have a strong voice in this process through organizations such as ours to ensure that our standards evolve as required by our rapidly evolving technology landscape.”
